Everything we know about work is changing: where it's done, how it's done, and who does it. As facilitators, we just got everyone comfy using sticky notes and colored markers, but there’s more to teach. Where these lessons happen is the focus of this book.

For this project, I took on the roles of creative director and editorial/visual designer, managing all aspects of the guide's design including cover art, iconography, charts, infographics, page layout, typography, and visual hierarchy (as well as the printing and publication process).
My co-authors, Jim Kalbach and Mark Tippin, collaborated on the content strategy and owned the copywriting. As remote work experts, with Jim and Mark also being expert facilitators, we drew on our collective knowledge and experiences in remote work culture. Much of the material was informed by our lived experiences, particularly in how we adapted to remote collaboration. For example, one of the most popular sections, featuring checklists and pro tips, is derived from our own personal advice. Research and case studies were gathered in partnership with many of our clients at Mural, helping to ground the content in real-world applications.
As a manager of a remote design team, I contributed several real-world examples, such as the time zone chart, which showcases how my team was distributed across the USA and Argentina. Within the "Remote Friendly Methods" section, you’ll find actual methods and tools used by our team, including screenshots and examples from our real team meetings.
